Textiles

I remember from a very young age using pattern, texture and colors to make things with fabric. I have always adored stripes and favored cotton for its crisp, natural hand. Soon I was buying yards of Indian madras plaids, dark indigos from Japan and modern Marimekko prints. I developed an eye for textiles, an understanding of quality, and a passion for designing custom fabrics for CARY. Years later, I find myself scouring heaps of yardage in Indian workrooms, watching weaver’s shuttles fly across looms, transfixed as a sari emerges from the rows of silk thread.
